In 1924, famed magician Harry Houdini visited a curious mansion on Halloween Night attempting to debunk the paranormal stories. He instead left with more questions than answers and famously referred to it as “The Mystery House.” The house in question is located in California and is considered to be one of the most haunted houses in America. At the instruction of a medium, the owner had round the clock construction done to her home. The construction continued nonstop from 1886 until her passing in 1922, at which time work immediately stopped. The house has doors and stairs that lead to nowhere, 160 rooms, 13 bathrooms, 7 kitchens, 47 fireplaces, 10,000 panes of glass, 17 chimneys, two basement levels, 3 elevators. It also had only one working toilet with all the other restrooms being decoys to confuse spirits. The owner slept in a different room every night until her death. Does the intricate layout contribute to the feeling that this house is haunted or do the spirits of the past live within its walls?
