Gargoyles were created to serve a practical purpose - rainwater management. They were originally designed to channel water away from buildings and prevent erosion. In ancient Egyptian architecture, gargoyles were typically in the form of a lion’s head. The most common association with the term gargoyle is with medieval architecture, the carvings more grotesque and fantasy inspired, oftentimes appearing as chimeras.

During the Middle Ages, knockers in the form of gargoyle heads appeared on doors as talismans meant to ward off demons and evil spirits.

This necklace depicts a horned, demon style gargoyle door knocker, with outstretched bat wings.

The necklace came perfectly packaged. The packaging is so adorable. I wear it everyday. Please remember to NOT get your jewelry wet or it will become damaged.

SO CUTE

I have wanted this necklace for a really long time and finally snagged it for the memorial sale! I would personally like it to be just a smidge longer, but it lays really really nicely below the collarbone area and layers perfectly. So happy to finally have this piece in my collection!

The gargoyle is the perfect size where it's not so big that it feels like costume jewelry but where it's also easily recognizable! The chain itself is thin but strong and well made, the jump rings (the rings connecting the chain and charm) are well closed so I'm not worried about the charm breaking off. The chain is a little short, take a look at the photos and the chain length in the description because it was shorter than I expected as I like my charms to sit a little lower. The shipping was fast (even for the snow storms in my area) and while I didn't need customer service they seemed really friendly while I was checking in on my package. Overall very good quality and a perfect piece to my collection! Looking forward to buying from them again!
