The Golden Records are two phonographic records that were included aboard both Voyager spacecrafts launched in 1977. The records, considered to be a time capsule, contain sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. They are intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or for future humans, who may find them. The contents of the record were selected for NASA by a committee chaired by Carl Sagan. After about a year, the committee assembled 115 images, a variety of natural sounds, greetings in 55 ancient and modern languages, and music from different cultures and eras. The records also included human sounds, such as footsteps and Carl Sagan's laughter. These vintage inspired drop hoop earrings feature discs depicting the engravings on the Golden Records.
