The umbra, penumbra and antumbra are three distinct parts of a shadow cast by celestial bodies. The umbra, which is Latin for “shadow” is the darkest part of a shadow. An observer within the umbra experiences a total eclipse. The prenumbera is a region where almost nearly all the light source is obscured, such as a partial eclipse. The antumbra is the lighter area of a shadow that appears beyond the umbra. During an annular solar eclipse, you will see the Sun’s disk around the moon and this “ring of fire” is considered the antumbra.
This unique, angular ring features an emerald cut gray center stone atop a diamond shaped setting surrounded by emerald green accents.
