Sleight of hand comes from the Old Norse. The phrase means “quick fingers” or “trickster fingers.” The technique uses fine motor skills - trickery of the hand - to entertain or influence. It is an independent skill and is most commonly used in magic done close to the audience. Often the use of psychology, timing, misdirection and natural choreography is used to accomplish sleight of hand magic. Until magicians figure out how to bend physical space and reality they’ll have to make do with the practice of sleight of hand.
