Astronomers and physicists have suspected for nearly 40 years that yes, it does rain diamonds on Uranus. The hypothesis goes that the extreme heat and pressure thousands of miles below the surface of the ice giant splits apart hydrocarbon compounds, making the carbon compress into diamonds that then rain down deeper into the planet’s core. Uranus is depicted in this signet ring rotating on its side as it does, with its (not as famous as Saturn’s) rings. Go ahead and show Uranus some love - don’t you want to be showered in diamonds?
