Earth Map Studs

Some 200 million years ago, the supercontinent Pangaea began to break apart, eventually forming the continents we know today. Its name is derived from the Greek pangaia, meaning "all the Earth." The idea was first proposed in 1912 as the continental drift theory. We now know that the breakup of Pangaea was caused by plate tectonics and it is theorized that continents have joined together and broke apart several times in Earth's geological history. Studies show that within the next 250 million years, Africa and the Americas will merge with Eurasia to form a super continent that approaches Pangaea proportion. These vintage inspired stud earrings nod to the current formation of Earth's landmasses.
